ABOUT THE BLOG

Boredom, stress, and physical lassitude combine into a killer epidemic more than it should.  I've personally found and reaffirmed that enjoying the outdoors through mindful interactions is pivotal in relieving our ills.  I lacked initial awareness to know that I was fulfilling these desires explicitly, but it led to an innate desire to be active and engaging, despite signifcant introversion throughout high school. I extroverted only through physically expressive media via high school seasons of cross-country, swimming, track and tennis.  In college I graduated to rowing (crew) and marathons.  After suffering an ACL injury playing rugby in grad school, I began road & mountain biking as low impact sports for rehab.  I now define myself primarily as a cyclist with a racing background in cross country mountain biking, BMXing, downhilling, cyclocross, time trial, and have recently picked up unicycling. The multisport endurance background naturally led to triathlons including two Ironmans, then to endurance adventure racing and ultrarunning. I was casually introduced to indoor bouldering years ago and have progressed to being a top-rope addict currently with the help of good friends and ECPers through the 2016-17 Mountaineering School.  I now teach the ECP Mountain Bike School.

I love to play photographer while engaged in these activities. Through all this, I've learned to accept people for who they are unequivocally and enjoy sonder, the wonderment of other people's lives and appreciate how each life is different in their values and needs.  I write to give ideas and hope for the human spirit, with a little bit of self-loathing humor to lift you up.
